Google’s biggest hardware event of the year has officially wrapped up, and the 2026 Made by Google event delivered quite a few announcements.
The spotlight was obviously on the new Pixel 11 lineup, but Google had plenty more to show. Alongside its latest phones, the company introduced the Pixel Watch 5, announced the upcoming Pixel Tag, and revealed a new Olive color for the Pixel Buds Pro 2.

There were also several interesting software and hardware details that didn’t get quite as much attention during the main announcements.
From the new Tensor G6-powered Pixel phones to improved foldable displays and new AI-powered camera features, here’s everything Google announced at Made by Google 2026.
The Pixel 11 Series Was the Main Attraction
As expected, the Pixel 11 family was the biggest announcement of the event.
Google introduced four new smartphones:
- Pixel 11
- Pixel 11 Pro
- Pixel 11 Pro XL
- Pixel 11 Pro Fold
At first glance, the new phones don’t look dramatically different from their predecessors. Google has kept the familiar Pixel design language while introducing some hardware refinements and new color options.
One of the first things you’ll notice is the redesigned camera bar.
Google has kept the horizontal camera-bar concept, but the module is now slimmer and doesn’t stick out quite as much from the back of the phone.
That’s a small change, but it should make the phones sit more naturally on a flat surface when you’re using them without a case.
The Pro models also receive brighter displays, with HDR brightness reaching 2,400 nits and peak brightness going as high as 3,600 nits.
Google has also added an anti-scratch layer designed to reduce everyday micro-scratches.
Pixel 11 HiLight Is One of the New Features
One of the more talked-about additions to the Pixel 11 lineup is HiLight.
However, there’s an important limitation.
At launch, HiLight works with phone calls and Gemini interactions. It doesn’t provide the broad app-by-app notification customization that some early expectations suggested.
Google says support for Google Messages is planned for a future update.
There are also five colors available for users to choose from.
Unfortunately, third-party applications aren’t currently supported, and the supplied information indicates that Google doesn’t currently plan to add third-party app support.
So while HiLight is interesting, it isn’t quite the notification-light replacement some Pixel fans may have been hoping for.
Pixel 11 Phones Are Available for Pre-Order
Google opened pre-orders for the new Pixel 11 devices on August 12, with general availability scheduled for August 20.
The listed starting prices are:
| Device | Starting Price |
|---|---|
| Pixel 11 | $899 |
| Pixel 11 Pro | $1,099 |
| Pixel 11 Pro XL | $1,299 |
| Pixel 11 Pro Fold | $1,899 |
Google is also offering various promotional deals depending on the model and retailer.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold sits at the top of the range, while the standard Pixel 11 provides the entry point into the new generation.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold Gets a Less Noticeable Crease
Google’s foldable phone also received an important display improvement.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a less noticeable crease than the previous-generation model.
Creases have always been one of the most obvious compromises of foldable phones, so even incremental improvements are welcome.
Based on the supplied hands-on impressions, the crease is now much harder to notice and appears to be closer to what we’ve seen from some of the latest Samsung and Oppo foldables.
That’s a meaningful improvement for anyone considering Google’s foldable.
Magic Capture Brings AI Into the Camera
Google is once again using AI to add new capabilities to the Pixel camera.
The new Magic Capture feature can automatically identify moments within a video that would also make good still photographs.
Instead of recording a video and later realizing that you missed the perfect photo, the phone can automatically capture suitable moments as high-resolution still images while you’re recording.
It’s a clever approach because it lets you concentrate on recording the moment rather than constantly switching between photo and video modes.
For families, pets, sports, and unpredictable moments, this could end up being one of the more useful Pixel 11 camera features.
Tensor G6 Is Expected to Improve Efficiency
The new Pixel 11 phones are powered by Google’s next-generation Tensor G6 processor.
Interestingly, Google has reduced battery capacity on some of the new Pixel models rather than simply increasing battery sizes.
That doesn’t necessarily mean shorter battery life.
Google says the Tensor G6 is more power-efficient, while the Pro models also benefit from an improved vapor chamber for better thermal management.
According to Google’s figures, the Pro models can provide up to 30 hours of battery life, while the standard Pixel 11 can reach up to 24 hours.
Real-world battery life will obviously depend on how you use the phone, but the efficiency improvements could help offset the smaller batteries.
Improved Cooling Comes to the Pixel 11 Pro Models
Google is continuing to use vapor chambers in the Pro versions of its Pixel phones.
This year, however, the cooling system has been improved.
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL pair the upgraded vapor chamber with the Tensor G6, which Google says can operate more efficiently and at lower sustained temperatures.
That could be particularly useful during demanding tasks such as gaming, recording long videos, navigation, and other processor-intensive workloads.
Better thermal management can also help maintain performance over longer periods.
Pixel Watch 5 Is Official
The phones weren’t the only major hardware announcement.
Google also introduced the Pixel Watch 5, its latest smartwatch.
Fast charging remains one of the watch’s biggest selling points.
The 45mm Pixel Watch 5 can reportedly reach a full charge in around 60 minutes.
That’s impressive for a smartwatch and should make it easier to top up the watch during short breaks.
But Google is also adding new health-focused features.
Health Guardian
A new Health Guardian feature includes tools such as:
- Blood Pressure Trends
- Insulin Resistance Trends
- Additional health monitoring capabilities
The goal is to help users notice changes in certain health-related trends over time.
Google is also introducing Smart Wake, which uses gentle vibrations to wake the wearer during an appropriate point in their sleep cycle within a 30-minute window before the scheduled alarm.
It’s another example of Google pushing the Pixel Watch beyond basic notifications and fitness tracking.
Google Pixel Tag Is Coming Later This Year
Google also revealed something entirely new for its hardware ecosystem: the Pixel Tag.
The small tracker is designed to help users locate belongings through Google’s Find Hub Network.
The Pixel Tag can be used with things such as:
- Wallets
- Backpacks
- Purses
- Keys
- Bags
Its compact design means you can slip it into a wallet or attach it to other belongings using compatible accessories.
Google says the Pixel Tag will cost $29, while a four-pack will be available for $99.
There’s one catch: it isn’t launching immediately.
The Pixel Tag is scheduled to arrive in November 2026.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 Get a New Olive Color
Google didn’t announce a Pixel Buds Pro 3 at the event.
Instead, the company gave the existing Pixel Buds Pro 2 a new color.
The new Olive finish joins the existing Porcelain, Peony, Hazel, and Moonstone options.
The reason for the new color appears to be synchronization with Google’s latest hardware lineup, as Olive is also being used across several Pixel 11 models and the Pixel Watch 5.
So if you’re looking for matching Google hardware, the new Olive option gives you another way to coordinate your devices.
Pixel 11 May Finally Improve OTA Update Speeds
Here’s a change that wasn’t necessarily presented as a major headline feature but could make a big difference in everyday use.
Early Pixel 11 setup experiences reportedly showed a large OTA update downloading and installing surprisingly quickly.
An update measuring more than 600MB was reportedly available during setup and completed in roughly a minute.
Pixel owners have complained for years about lengthy update processes, so if this behavior continues on production devices, the Pixel 11 series could finally make system updates considerably less frustrating.
Of course, broader testing will be needed before we can say whether this is a consistent improvement across all Pixel 11 devices.
What About the Pixel 11 Pro XL?
The Pixel 11 Pro XL is Google’s large flagship for this generation.
It combines the new Tensor G6 platform with the improved cooling system and brighter display.
The display can reach up to 3,600 nits peak brightness, making it one of the brightest Pixel screens yet.
The slimmer camera bar also gives the phone a cleaner rear design.
For people who want the largest conventional Pixel phone without moving to the foldable, the Pro XL is likely to remain the flagship model to beat.

Final Thoughts
Made by Google 2026 turned out to be a pretty packed event.
The Pixel 11 series naturally stole most of the attention, but Google also made some interesting moves elsewhere.
The Pixel Watch 5 brings faster charging and new health-related features, while the Pixel Tag gives Google a direct competitor in the item-tracking space.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is also worth watching because of its improved display crease, and Magic Capture could become one of the more practical AI camera features on the new phones.
Meanwhile, the Tensor G6 and improved cooling system show that Google isn’t focusing solely on flashy new features. Better efficiency and thermal management could have a noticeable effect on everyday Pixel performance.
With the Pixel 11 phones shipping from August 20, we’ll soon get a much clearer picture of how these devices perform in real-world use.
For now, though, Made by Google 2026 has given Pixel fans plenty to look forward to.
